Attributes

An attribute can store:

• Units of data (metadata)
• Values that describe a certain characteristic
• Property of a document

You can also define attributes that have multiple values. Such attributes are called multi-valued (collections) attributes, which are implemented as child components. For example, you can store multiple addresses, home addresses, and work addresses.

You create an attribute to store a characteristic of an item.
