Display thoughts in the GenAI Assistant

When an agent runs, you can see a real-time summary of its activity: which agent was selected, which tool was called, and what happened at each step.

How do I choose how much of the agent's reasoning I see?

In-line Thoughts lets you control how much of an agent's reasoning is displayed while it works. You set your preference in User Settings. The settings are applied every time you use the GenAI Assistant.

Prerequisites:

The tenant administrator must enable at least one In-line Thoughts tier in System Configuration.

To set your preference:

  1. Go to GenAI > User Settings > In-line Thoughts
  2. Open the In-line Thoughts menu.
  3. Select a tier.

The menu shows only the tiers the administrator has enabled. Your selection takes effect immediately.

Depending on what the administrator enables, you can choose from:

  • Minimal

Shows a thinking indicator with time and token usage while the agent works. The indicator disappears when the response is ready.

  • Standard

Shows plain-language summaries of each action the agent takes, with time and token usage.

  • Detailed

Shows the full trace, including tool details, for each step the agent takes.

What happens next:

  • Your choice overrides the tenant default.
  • Your preference persists across sessions and page refreshes.
  • The same tier applies whether you use the Assistant in the embedded panel or as a standalone app.
Note: If you do not set a preference, the Assistant uses the default tier the administrator selected. If the administrator later turns off the tier you chose, your view falls back to that default.
