Gmail API Activities
Gmail API activities support Gmail mailbox operations in RPA workflows. These activities follow the existing email activity patterns and use Gmail API behavior where applicable.
This chapter describes the pre-defined Gmail automation activities that you can use for designing the RPA flow.
Overview
The Gmail API activities package provides RPA activities for sending, retrieving, replying to, forwarding, moving, deleting, and updating Gmail messages.
Prerequisites
To use Gmail API activities in automation workflows, these prerequisites must be met:
- Gmail API OAuth2 authentication must be configured in Mastermind.
- The target mailbox must be determined by the authentication configuration.
- Individual Gmail activities must not include an Account property.
Key differences from Outlook Graph activities
This section lists the key differences between Gmail activities and Outlook Graph activities.
- Labels instead of folders
- Gmail uses labels instead of folders. For example, the Move Gmail Email activity uses a source label and a destination label.
- Gmail search syntax instead of OData filters
- Gmail uses Gmail search syntax instead of OData $filter syntax. For example, use from:user@example.com or subject:invoice to filter email messages.
- RFC 2822 MIME message format
- Gmail activities use the raw RFC 2822 MIME message construction for send, forward, and reply operations.
- UNREAD label for message status
- Gmail manages read and unread status through the UNREAD label instead of an IsRead Boolean property.
- Authentication-based mailbox selection
- Gmail activities do not include an Account or Shared Mailbox property. The authentication configuration determines the target mailbox.
