Configure additional properties

Use the Advanced Properties tab to configure broker-specific settings and map message headers that are required by the target messaging infrastructure. These properties provide flexibility when integrating with different AMQP implementations.

Configure dead-letter handling

Configure how the consumer handles messages that cannot be processed.

On the Advanced Properties tab, specify this information in the Consumer — Dead-Letter Configuration section:
Strategy

Select one of these options:

  • Reject: The broker handles dead-lettering. You must specify an Error Queue Address.

  • Republish: The connector routes the message to a configured error address. The Error Queue Address field is disabled.

A warning dialog box confirms that you understand that broker-side configuration may be required.

Error Queue Address
Specify the queue for dead-letter messages. This field is required when Reject is selected and disabled when Republish is selected.

The configured dead-letter strategy applies in these situations:

  • Messages whose BODType does not match any document configured on the Documents tab.
  • Messages that exceed the maximum permitted size.
  • Messages that fail processing after the maximum number of redelivery attempts.

If no dead-letter queue is configured on the broker for the Reject strategy, or if no error queue is specified, unmatched messages are discarded and a warning is logged in the Message Tracker.

Configure the retry policy

Configure the number of times that the producer retries sending a message before the message is marked as a dead letter.

In the Producer — Retry Policy section, specify this information:
Max Retries
Specify the number of retry attempts before a message is marked as a dead letter. You can specify a value from 1 through 5. The default value is 3.

Configure message properties

Configure custom application properties that are included with messages.

  1. Optionally, select the Include custom headers by default check box to include custom headers automatically when messages are sent.
  2. Click + Add to configure a custom application property.
  3. Specify this information:
    Property Name
    Specify the property name. The value must follow pattern validation requirements.
    Value source

    Select one of these options:

    • Use Constant Value: Specify a fixed string value.

    • Use ION Header Field: Select an ION header field from the selection list.

  4. Click OK to save the property.
  5. Click Save to commit the changes.

Manage existing properties

Modify or remove previously configured message properties.

  1. Select a property.
  2. Perform one of these actions:
    • Click the Edit icon to modify the property.
    • Click the Delete icon to remove the property.
  3. Click Save to commit the changes.
