Use the AMQP connector in a Data Flow

The AMQP connector appears as a separate step type in the Data Flow modeler. It is distinct from the JMS connector, which is displayed as JMS. You can use the AMQP connector as a producer or a consumer.

  1. Select ION > Data Flows, and open or create a Data Flow.
  2. Add an AMQP step to the Data Flow:
    • To use the AMQP connector as a producer, add the AMQP step after another step in the flow. The AMQP connector writes messages to a queue.
    • To use the AMQP connector as a consumer, add the AMQP step as the first step in the flow. The AMQP broker pushes messages to the connector.
  3. Specify this information in the AMQP step properties:
    Name
    Specify a name for the AMQP step.
    Description
    Specify a description of the AMQP step.
    AMQP Queue
    Select an existing AMQP connection point from the selection list, or click New to create a connection point.
  4. Optionally, click Details to view or edit the selected connection point configuration.
  5. If the AMQP connector is used as a consumer, add the subsequent steps to the Data Flow.

    For example, add a File Connector, an Application step, or another AMQP connector.

  6. Click Save to commit the Data Flow.
  7. Activate the Data Flow.

As a producer, a File Connector can pick up a Sync.ItemMaster document, and the AMQP connector can write the document to a queue.

As a consumer, the AMQP connector can read messages from a queue and pass them to a File Connector or another step.

The AMQP connector uses the documents configured on the connection point's Documents tab to determine which messages to read from or write to the queue.

Only messages whose BODType matches a configured document are processed. Messages whose BODType does not match any configured document are handled according to the configured dead-letter strategy. For more information, see Configure additional properties.

If per-document queue overrides are configured, each document is routed independently.
