AMQP connection point

Overview

The Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP) connector is a connection point type that enables ION Service to integrate with external AMQP-compliant message brokers, such as RabbitMQ. It allows ION to produce messages to and consume messages from AMQP queues, supporting both BOD and JSON document types.

Key characteristics

• Supports the AMQP 1.0 protocol.
• Available as a separate connector type alongside JMS (Message Queue). The existing Message Queue connector has been renamed to JMS (Message Queue).
• Phase 1 supports deployment through Enterprise Connector (on-premises). Cloud deployment follows in a subsequent phase.
• Supports three SASL authentication mechanisms: Plain, External, and Anonymous.
• Supports TLS encryption for secure communication.
• Can act as both a producer that writes messages to a queue and a consumer that reads messages from a queue.
• Supports dead-letter handling through two strategies: Reject (broker-managed) and Republish (connector-managed).
• Filters messages by document type (BODType). Messages that do not match any configured document are routed through the configured dead-letter strategy instead of being delivered to ION.
• Integrates with Data Flows as the first step (consumer) or as a subsequent step (producer).

Supported messaging pattern

The AMQP connector supports point-to-point queue-based messaging. The consumer is pushed by the broker, similar to the JMS connector.
