Post-deployment tasks

There are tasks that must be completed after the global package has been deployed. This section describes these tasks.

Editable packages

If a deployed package is Editable, you can create patch versions, such as 1.0.1, from a deployed major version or minor version.

You can modify or delete patch versions.

You can customize these resources in a patch version:

  • Document Classes
  • Entities
  • Table Headers
  • Key Identifiers
  • Prompt Instructions
  • Extensions

Read-only packages

You cannot create patch versions or modify deployed resources.

Deploy a newer package version from the source tenant or editor tenant to provide updates.

Package upgrades

When you deploy a newer package version, it is not activated automatically.

For example, if version 1.0.0 is active and version 2.0.0 is deployed:

  • Version 1.0.0 remains active.
  • Version 2.0.0 is imported as inactive.

Validate the newer version, and then activate the version manually.

This behavior prevents service disruptions that can result from automatic activation of newly deployed package versions.

Edit resources

The ability to edit deployed resources depends on:

  • Resource Edit Mode of the namespace (Editable or Read-only)
