A read-only global package deploys resources to the target tenant as single, non-editable instances. Customers can't modify these resources because they are controlled only by the content development team.

During the read-only package deployment, existing resources are overwritten by the new package version. No customer action is required.

For the target tenant, a dual-instance model is used in an editable global package. For each deployed resource, two instances are maintained under the same resource name.

The live instance is your day-to-day working instance that you can modify through the application user interface.

The reference template is a protected, read-only copy of the delivered-by-Infor content. You can view this content for comparison purposes but you can't modify or delete it. You can access the template through the Versions from global package link on the resource detail view in the Data Fabric application. When a new version of an editable package is deployed, only the reference template is updated. The live instance remains unchanged, preserving all customer customizations.

The resource edit mode is a property set on the global package namespace. The edit mode defines whether a global package uses the read-only or editable deployment model. The resource edit mode is configured when the namespace is created and can't be changed after the first package version is created.

Not all resource types support both modes.
