The Timeline view provides these capabilities:
- You can view the components triggered by the message within ION.
- Click the component icon to view summary information about each triggered component. The component Properties and the Events logged by this component are shown. The selected component is highlighted, and the Events tab is expanded. Events are shown in ascending order of date. If you select an event, the event details are displayed. Click to navigate to the Events list.
- You can view summary information about each message handled (original, mapped, updated, and Confirm BOD). The selected message is highlighted.
- You can view the content of the messages handled during the timeline by using the Content tab after selecting the document. See Message Content Window.
- You can drill down to the details of the selected component to see configuration and runtime information. Use the hyperlinks in the component properties section.
Details to drill down are explained in "Drill down to Desk pages".
- The document-link icon is used to navigate to the input document timeline.
- You can navigate to the previous message ID timeline by left or right clicking the input document-link icon.
- Click
- The new timeline supports multi-level views up to five levels. After reaching this limit, you can click to view additional levels. The option provides access to the next 5 levels.
- In cases of parallel flows, the timeline shows 5 branches initially. You can click to access the next 5 branches. In horizontal flows, the timeline shows 5 levels and a 6th document icon with a link next to it.
to reload the original timeline.
- A Legend is available, showing the name of every component displayed.
- When using , you see the sequence numbers of instances after the split. The timeline of the first split instance is shown by default. When you change the instance, the timeline updates to that instance. Click to return to the timeline of the original document.
- You can obtain a complete number of instances in the same batch ID for a selected document name.
Complete these steps:
- Use the search filter Batch ID to find the messages for the specified batch ID.
- In the message timeline, click the icon.
- Find the Batch ID property in the timeline properties for the selected document.
- Click the Count instances in batch link under the batch ID value.
An In Flight indicator means that the complete number of instances is higher, and not all messages within that batch are available.
A Warning indicator means that the batch was aborted and not all messages within that batch are available.
If the link is hidden, counting is not possible.
A message is considered in flight when it is sent from one component to another but has not yet been delivered.
For example, the Process Monitor, Workflow, Activation Policies, and Alarms are separate components. After a message is delivered (for example, a workflow is started or a monitor is triggered), the message is no longer in flight.
If an in-flight message timeline is purged, ION continues to function correctly for actions in progress. For example, users can still complete open tasks or alerts. Only the timeline details are purged.
