Restoring purged data objects

If data is purged accidentally, by a bug, or through a malicious action, use the Undo option to restore it. To undo a data purge, you must have the DF-SuperAdmin role or have object access to objects that have been purged. Data restoration is available for a specific purge event that is defined with a purge ID.

After restoring purged data, Compass cached data is automatically cleared to maintain consistency between Data Lake and Compass. For audit and governance purposes, purge logs register who and when restores purged data.

You can undo a purge event within 90 days after the purge event was completed. The Undo option is available only for purge events that contain up to 100 million objects. You can restore one purge event at a time. You cannot cancel the Undo action.

  1. Select Data Lake > Purge.
  2. In the Purge Logs section of the Purge page, select a completed purge event.
  3. Click Undo.
You can track the event being restored with the Restoring filter in the Status column.
After the Undo action is completed, the purge event's data is restored to Data Lake and the event has the status of Restored.
