Shared Folder

On Microsoft Windows, a shared folder is provided by the Windows network component File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks. It uses the Microsoft's Server Message Block (SMB) protocol.

Other operating systems might also implement that protocol. For example, Samba is an SMB server running on UNIX-like operating systems. Samba can be used to create network shares which can be accessed, using SMB, from computers running Microsoft Windows. When transfer protocol Shared Folder is selected, the additional property SMB v2 is displayed and selected in default. When using SMBv2, you can connect to the shared folders with SMB 2.0 or SMB 2.1 protocols.

Clear the SMB v2 check box to revert back to a previous version of Shared folder using SMB 1.0. If the user name and password are specified, it is ensured that SMB 1.0 protocol is used. If not, anonymous access is used, and different protocols can be negotiated.
