Promoting an Infor OS secondary node to the primary node

In case the primary node fails, one of the secondary nodes can take over the role of primary server. Prepare the secondary servers for this role after the installation of all nodes has finished.

To promote an Infor OS secondary node to the primary node:

  1. Access a secondary node.
  2. Start Infor OS Manager in Advanced Mode.
Note: For more information about advanced mode, see Enabling advance mode features.
  3. Go to Advanced Features.
  4. Click Start Failover.
  5. Select the failed primary server for Failed Node.
  6. If the primary node is recoverable, select Temporary Failover. If the primary node is not recoverable, select Permanent Failover.
Note: If Permanent Failover is selected, the primary node is removed permanently and cannot be added back.
Note: Infor OS must be reinstalled to re-enable use of the server.
  7. Click Start.
  8. Restart the new primary node.
Note: A message to restart the primary node displays in the Failover success popup.
  9. Update the Elastic Search YML file on all hosts of Infor OS. Refer to the "Updating the Elastic Search YML file" section in the Infor OS Installation Guide for instructions on how to update this file.
