Editing the publishing configuration

  1. Click the More icon on the widget title bar from the smart panel.
  2. Select Advanced > Edit Publishing Configuration .
  3. Enter a description for the widget on the Basic tab. This description is not used until the widget is published to the Widget Catalog.
  4. Click the Settings tab.
Depending on the widget, there may be settings that you can enable for editing first by clicking Enable settings and then specifying a setting.

The tab depends on the widget. Assume that you tested the Notes widget and that you no longer want to edit the notes. Then, make sure the Enable settings check box is cleared.

  5. Click Apply.
The page is reloaded and, depending on your publish configuration, the widget behaves differently. For example, the Configuration menu option is no longer displayed in the widget menu (…) if Enable settings was cleared.
  6. To re-enable configuration, you must open the Edit Publish Configuration dialog box again:
    1. Click the More icon on the widget title bar from the smart panel.
    2. Select Advanced > Edit Publishing Configuration .
    3. Select Enable settings on the Settings tab.
    4. Click Apply.
  7. Proceed to publishing the widget.
Using this approach, you can test how a widget behaves when it is published. You can also complete this configuration of a widget before you publish a page.
