User settings in a published widget

You can publish a widget where some of the widget settings can be changed by a user. In most cases, you do not want to enable user settings in a published widget, but there are scenarios where this may be useful. If a widget has settings that are related to user preference, those settings can be enabled while other settings remain disabled.

If you change the enabled widget settings, the widget settings are not updated if the widget owner republishes the widget with updated settings. You should not enable settings that you want to be able to change when you republish the widget.

See Publishing a widget.

Note: If you are unsure whether to enable user settings, leave the settings disabled, which is the default setting when you publish a widget. You can enable the user settings and republish the widget later.
