SUBSTRING

Use SUBSTRING to return a substring, or portion, of a string expression. The first parameter is the string expression. The second parameter is the starting position for the substring. The third parameter is the number of characters for the substring.

SUBSTRING(string_expression, start_position, number_of_characters)

SELECT SUBSTRING('baseball team', 10)
