Defining expressions of type Date

  1. Select BPA Designer > Operations > Expressions.
  2. In the Document field, select the input business document for which to define an expression.

For accounting framework integration, the list displays transactional document registrations. For a flexible output integration, both the master data and transactional document registrations are shown.

The list of available expressions is displayed.

  3. Click Add.
  4. Specify this information:
    Name
Specify a unique name that identifies the expression. Valid characters are a–z, A–Z, and 0–9. The first character should be an uppercase letter. The maximum length is 15 characters.
    Type
    Select Date.

A Statement field is displayed containing these controls:

    • Operand Types: possible values are Attribute, Fixed Value, and Today.
    • Operators
    • Statement Control buttons: use these buttons to navigate and perform editing functions on the statement.
  5. Click the operand type. This refers to the values that will be processed to derive a date. These are the possible values:
    • Attribute
    • Fixed Value (Days or Date)
    • Today (Date today)
Note: The statement follows a certain sequence. The first operand is an attribute or a date value (Fixed Value of Date or Today). Next, include an arithmetic operator of addition (+) or subtraction (-). The last operand is a numeric value of number of days (Fixed Value of Days). The statement must not end with a date.
  6. Specify this information for the argument of type Attribute. The displayed fields depend on the selected operand type.
    Mapping
Select the desired document registration. This list is dynamic. For accounting framework integration, the list displays transactional document registrations. For a flexible output integration, both the master data and transactional document registrations are shown.
    Attribute
Select the desired attribute. This list only displays attributes with a datatype of Date that is associated to the selected document registration.
  7. Specify this information for the argument of type Fixed Value. The displayed fields depend on the selected operand type.
    Type
Select Days to signify the number of days, example, 1, 30. Select Date to assign a specific past, present or future date.
    Value
If Days is selected, specify a fixed numeric value. If Date is selected, specify a date or TODAY from the date picker tool. TODAY corresponds to the current system date of the GFC instance. This value does not change with the date of processing of the input documents.
  8. For the argument of type Today, click the Today button to add it to the statement.
Note: Today’s date follows the current system date of the GFC instance. This value changes with the date when input documents are processed.
  9. Click Save.
    The new expression is displayed.
