Commitments and encumbrances variance report

You can use the commitments and encumbrances variance report to identify differences between General Ledger Total amounts and related GL Commit records. The report displays only records with a variance, so you can quickly find commitment or encumbrance amounts that may require review and correction.

Running the report

  1. Select Global Ledger > Analysis > Main.
  2. On the Transactions and Balances panel, select Commitments and Encumbrances Variance Report.
  3. Click Run Report and specify this information:
    Finance Enterprise Group
    Select the finance enterprise group. The finance enterprise group from the user context is the default value.
    Scenario
    Select Commitments, Encumbrances, or Both.
    System
    Select a system to return records for a single system. If this field is blank, then all system codes are displayed.
  4. Click Submit.

Viewing report results

  1. Select Global Ledger > Analysis > Main.
  2. On the Transactions and Balances panel, select Commitments and Encumbrances Variance Report.
    The variance list shows the transaction amount from General Ledger Total for the commitment scenario, the corresponding transaction amount from GL Commit, and the variance amount between them.

Reviewing variance details

  1. Select Global Ledger > Analysis > Main.
  2. On the Transactions and Balances panel, select Commitments and Encumbrances Variance Report.
  3. In the Commitments/Encumbrances section, select a record in the variance list to view the related details.
    The Commitments/Encumbrances section shows the detailed GL Commit record or records for the selected item. Use these details to investigate the source of the variance.
    Note: After you correct the source of a variance, run the report again to confirm that the item no longer appears in the variance list.
