Managing modified NRAC notices

When NRAC publishes a modified recall notice, the recall coordinator reviews the update to determine whether it changes the organization’s recall response.

In a typical workflow, the coordinator opens the list of updated notices, checks what changed in the general notice details, new product items, or supporting documents, and decides whether responders need additional follow-up. The system detects updated notices during NRAC retrieval, flags them for review, preserves any work already completed, and either updates the existing notice or creates a linked “Update to Prior Notice” record.

If new product codes are added, the coordinator can re-run the Product Transaction Query, while the system can skip previously queried items to avoid duplicate responder tasks. After reviewing the update and taking any needed action, the coordinator marks the notice as reviewed so the system removes it from the review list and keeps the recall process focused on unresolved updates.
Note: If an update arrives referencing a notice that was not synced into the system, the notice is treated as a standard new notice.

Reviewing modified notices

  1. Select Item Lifecycle > Notices > Updated.
  2. Select a notice to expand its detail sections or click the Review Changes button.
The update summary is organized into these sections:
    • General tab displays which header-level fields were changed.
    • New Items tab displays a list of new product codes that were added in the notice. This section only appears when new items exist.
    • Reference tab displays when new documents are included in the update.
  3. Select Product Transaction Query to query new items included in the update.
  4. Select the Skip Previously Queried Items check box to skip product items that were already queried, either on this notice or on any related notice in the update chain.
  5. Once you have reviewed the changes and taken any necessary action, click Mark Update As Reviewed.
  6. Optionally, if you need to revisit the update later, select Mark Update As Needs Review from the notice to return it to the list.
Note: If another update arrives from NRAC before you have reviewed the current one, the changes accumulate. The comparison will show everything that changed since the last time you marked the notice as reviewed.

Viewing related notices

  1. Select Item Lifecycle > Notices.
  2. Open a notice.
  3. Select View Original Notice to navigate to the original or prior notice before the update.
  4. Select View Updated Notice to navigate to the most recent update.
  5. Select Review Changes to view the update summary.

Handling tasks after the updates

If the coordinator re-runs the Product Transaction Query after receiving an update, the responder receives new tasks. The new tasks are displayed in the responder’s task list with any existing tasks for the same notice. The existing tasks remain unchanged by updates.

Tasks created from items that arrived through an update are associated with product items marked as New on the notice. Click the Review Changes button to see what changed and what action is required.
