Process pending actions
Process pending actions are used to recalculate the budget for the affected budget dimensions or to reflect changes made in the budget groups.
Use the Process Pending action when any of these dimension hierarchy changes are made:
- When a new posting element is added.
- When a new manual element is added.
- When an element or member is added, moved, deleted, tracked, or edited at the summary level.
A budget group in pending status is excluded from budget editing until it is added to the budget template. To add the budget group to the budget template and enable editing, run the applicable pending action.
For a selective template, Process Pending creates and initializes budget groups with existing obligations and unreleased transactions. Any budget groups not created during this run are automatically generated and initialized upon their first use in a transaction. See Initialize budget groups for selective templates.
These tabs are displayed in the budget template when there are dimension hierarchy changes:
- The Pending Members tab is displayed when a new posting element is added.
- The Pending Manual tab is displayed when a new manual element is added.
- The Pending Recalculate tab is displayed when an element or member is added, moved, deleted, tracked, or edited at the summary level.
- The Pending Remove tab is displayed when a posting or manual element is removed.
For a budget group that is removed and in a pending remove state, budget editing still applies. A budget group is only ignored for budget editing after the Pending Remove action is run.
See Budget edit dimension hierarchy maintenance.
When Process Pending is triggered, the budget template status changes to Processing. During this time, releasing transactions will be held in the “Budget Edit is in progress” status. Once processing is complete, the status reverts to Ready, and budget validation resumes. This ensures that no transactions are processed against outdated or incomplete budget data.
