Creating asset product categories

  1. Select Financials > Asset Accounting > Asset System Setup > Asset Types.
  2. Select an asset type record.
  3. On the Product Categories tab, click Create.
  4. Specify this information:
    Manufacturer ID
    Select an alphanumeric ID that represents the manufacturer of one or more assets in asset accounting. The combination of Manufacturer ID and Manufacturer Name field must be unique and represent a unique line of data.
    Manufacturer Name
    Specify the name of the manufacturer.
    Model Number
    Specify the model number of the items that is added or inventoried.
    Item Description
    Specify a description for the whole product category line.
    Bar code
    Use a barcode to track physical inventory by associating assets with a unique barcode. Some assets have vendor-supplied bar-coded numbers. You can scan these bar codes when adding the assets.
  5. Click Save.
