Asset transfers and update

When some fields are updated, journal entries are generated or changes to other fields are required.

Use these guidelines to decide whether to perform transfers or adjustments:

• You can update all asset data except for the asset number and the company. You can transfer only the company, asset tag, asset group, location, and division.
• You can update or transfer a location or division depending on which reports suit your business requirements. You can also update a division or location individually, but you can mass transfer locations and divisions.
• You can partially adjust items by changing an item line and adding a new item line for the unchanged portion of the item.
• When you transfer partial assets, a new asset is created for the transferred portion of the asset.

Mass adjustment creates the same journal entries as individual adjustments, but cannot be changed or rejected online.
