Recipe units of measure
A recipe unit of measure (UOM) is the amount that is used of each ingredient
item.
Recipe UOMs provide amount descriptions such as gram, ounce, or liter. For example, one cup of flour is required for a recipe. Flour is purchased in 50 lb bags, so the stock UOM is BAG. If the stock unit of measure is used for the recipe, then the quantity of flour is listed as 0.006 BAG. If the recipe UOM is used for the recipe, then the quantity of flour is listed as 1 CUP.
