Shipping methods
Shipping methods are codes that you assign to orders to define the way in which shipments are sent.
Based on your reporting requirements, examples of shipping methods can be broad categories or specific categories:
- Examples of broad categories are truck, rail, air
- Examples of specific categories are Air Plus, Conway, and Yellow
You define default customer shipping methods when you add customers in Receivables. Orders that are placed for the customer include the default shipping method, but you can override the shipping method on the order. You can also override the shipping method during the feedback process. A description of the shipping method is printed on the invoice. You can inactivate a shipping method. For example, your company used to ship by truck, but switched to a courier service. You can select inactive for the truck shipping method and add the new courier service method. You cannot define the inactive method on future orders.
