Budget scenarios
Multiple budgeting versions are supported by budgeting scenarios. Multiple budget scenarios can be created with different subsets. The reporting basis determines the participating members of each dimension. Normally budgets are loaded into the Budget Import staging table from Enterprise Performance Management Budgeting and Planning using an application engine script. When Enterprise Performance Management is not used, budgets can be imported using any of the Landmark import methods. See the Financials and Supply Management Data Interface Guide.
When Enterprise Performance Management Budgeting and Planning is used for budget formulation, we recommend that you define the scenario with the same dimension that is defined in the Enterprise Performance Management dimension map. When a third party budget system is used, you can use any dimension that is defined in the finance enterprise group.
Multiple budgets can be produced that can be used to edit transactions:
- Budget scenarios can be created for any dimension in the finance structure in Global Ledger, including Project.
- Required dimensions for Financials & Supply Management actuals include Accounting Entity and Account. Accounting Entity and Account dimensions are required for budgeting in Enterprise Performance Management.
- For project budgets we recommend accounting entity, account, and project dimensions. Existing Project Ledger users also include a user dimension for account category.
- When you create a budget using only the project dimension, the functional
currency amount on the accounting entity is not calculated. There is no functional
budget amount when referencing budget scenario balance records in the
GeneralLedgerTotal
business class. There is no functional budget amount when accessing rollup amounts using the general ledger cube. - We recommend budgeting by Accounting Entity, Account, and Project for your project budgeting requirements.
