Budget templates

The budget data is held in a budget scenario. The budget edit constraints on a scenario are represented by a budget template. A template edits against a budget scenario dimension or a subset of dimensions. A budget scenario can have multiple active budget templates. All active budget templates are checked during transaction. Transactions fail if any template determines that budget is exceeded.

The template must be activated for the template to edit transactions. The activation process generates budget groups. See Budget groups and Activating budget templates.

The template activation creates a budget group for every template dimension combination and initializes the group's local obligation from the BI GLTOT cube. To bypass generating all combinations of budget groups, enable the Selective Budget Groups Generation on Activate option. See Creating budget templates and Activating templates with selective budget groups.

When budget editing is active, adding new templates may be required. To safely make these changes, you must follow the recommended steps to ensure that the budget editing information is properly updated.

See New budget templates.
