Renaming and shifting periods
To adjust the close configuration schedule for a year-end date change, a
reorganization of the CloseConfigurationPeriod
and
all GeneralLedgerTransaction
records is required.
When the reorganization is complete, the year and period that are displayed on the
GeneralLedgerJournalControl
may not be
meaningful. The year and period are not meaningful when reporting on a year-end
calendar other than the one for the close configuration.
For example, a 12-month calendar year is assigned to the close configuration of the entity. But a particular entity always reports on a May 31 year-end basis. Period 5 does not have the same meaning to that particular entity as it does to a calendar year entity. May as a period name may be more meaningful to all the entities regardless of the year-end basis reporting. You can apply a new name to show on all relevant forms and fields to customize the year and period. Use this procedure to rearrange or shift the close periods.
