Global Ledger companies and company groups

The purpose of a Global Ledger company is to relate a subsystem company to an accounting entity. One or more Global Ledger companies can be related to a single accounting entity.

The Global Ledger company does not have any part in calendar or chart definition. A company is a bridge from the subledgers, which operate by company, to Global Ledger.

For example, when a Payables invoice is created within a company, the association to accounting entity is used to determine where the transactions belong. The company is an operational tool, although all of the accounting occurs within an accounting entity.

A company group is a list of sub ledger companies that can be used for any accounting or organizational purpose.
