Adding multiple new sub accounts to chart accounts

Use this procedure to create chart accounts for multiple new sub accounts at once. New chart accounts are created for any account that includes the specified sub accounts group and for which the Like Chart Account field has a value. A chart account is created for the new sub accounts in each summary account where the like chart account appears.

Sub accounts must already be created. See Creating sub accounts.

Sub accounts must already be attached to one or more accounts using a new or existing sub accounts group. When including new sub accounts in an exiting or new sub accounts group, do not specify a value for Account In Chart. If updating an existing sub accounts group, make sure the condition captures the new sub accounts. See Attaching sub accounts to accounts with a sub account group.

Select Financials > Global Ledger > Setup > Finance Enterprise Group > Maintenance.
Open the finance enterprise group and click the Account tab.
For any accounts that include a group with new sub accounts for which you want to create chart accounts, there must be a value in the Like Chart Account field. This value is used when creating chart accounts. For example, if an account 10002 has a Like Chart Account value of 10002, a chart account is created in the chart hierarchy where account 10002 exists for any new sub account.
Use one of the following methods to populate the Like Chart Account field:
- Manually update the Like Chart Account field for one or more applicable accounts. This method is desirable if there are accounts that should not have a Like Chart Account value.
- Auto-populate the Like Chart Account field of all accounts that do not currently have a value. Select Actions > Populate Like Chart Account. Verify the values and update any values as required. This action populates the Like Chart Account field with the value of the first existing related general ledger chart account.
Note: The account and the like chart account must have the same Chart Section value.
Select Actions > Build Sub Accounts For Group.
Select the valid sub account group in the Valid Sub Accounts Group field and click OK.

For any account that includes the specified valid sub accounts group and has a Like Chart Account value, new chart accounts are created for any missing sub account combinations. New chart accounts are created in the chart hierarchy where the like chart account exists. If the like chart account only exists in the _UNUSED_ chart, the new chart account is created in the _UNUSED_ chart. If the valid sub accounts group contains more than 25 sub-accounts, the action starts an Async action for each account that includes the valid sub accounts group.
