Project billing rate tables
You can use a project billing rate table to define billable rates using any dimension of the finance code block and employee. Up to five dimensions from the finance enterprise group and the employee record can be used to establish rates. The dimension order must be numbered in the order that it is used to perform the calculations.
We recommend that you not include the project dimension when defining the rate table setup. The project dimension is associated with the project contract and posting projects. The assumption is that the rates in the table that is assigned to the contract are valid for all posting projects in the project contract. If rates vary by posting project, then unique rate tables are assigned at the posting project override level.
When using the a billing method of Rate Table, the billing rate table is assigned to the project contract. The billing rate table can be overridden at each posting project and billing override. The rate table is used when the Generate Invoice action is run to process transactions that include units and the rate table dimensions.
If a transaction does not have units or does not match a rate table line, then the transaction is processed using the Cost Reimbursement billing method. Transactions that are ineligible for billing using the billing rate table can be excluded from processing. You can use a custom group on the project funding source to exclude the ineligible transactions when invoices are generated.
