Posting accounts
A posting account is an alphanumeric identifier that is used to post journal entries. A posting account can contain up to 15 characters. You can impose a pattern on the accounts by specifying an account general expression on the finance enterprise group. In this case, your account must be numeric. If you use sub accounts on the finance enterprise group, then you can define sub accounts that can be applied to multiple accounts.
Posting accounts are selected in two scenarios:
- When a transaction is created or interfaced.
- When you select the posting accounts that are associated with a chart hierarchy.
Each posting account can be associated with multiple charts. A chart does not have to use all of the accounts that are defined for the finance enterprise group.
