Conventions in data substitution

This table shows the conventions that are used in data substitution:

Term	Definition
tpid	The trading partner ID from a Trading Partner record. This term is used to identify the trading partner to which the data substitution record relates or for which it is valid. Depending on the data substitution, the tpid can be part of the List Name, the Your Value, or the Partner value.
*	An asterisk is used in some data substitutions to indicate that the data substitution is valid for all values.
L1	This term is a reserved trading partner ID for compatibility with previous releases. It is used in some list names to mean all trading partner IDs. L1_O_UOM is the List Name for an outbound UOM substitution for all partners.
_O_	Some list names use an O to indicate that the data substitution is used in outbound translation.
_I_	Some list names use an I to indicate that the data substitution is used in inbound translation.
<value>	A value enclosed in < and > are place holders for identifiers and not literal values. For example, <tpid> is placeholder for the trading partner ID. <company> is a placeholder for your company ID. <N1ST04> is a placeholder for the value of the N1ST04 element.
+	A literal plus sign. Used in some data substitution records that require two or more key values.
