Tax ID format
Each country has a specific format for tax identification numbers. Countries in the same
region, such as the European Union (EU), may have similar formats.
Australia specifics
The Australian business number (ABN) is a unique 11-digit identifier that is used for businesses and all levels of government to interact.
A non-resident entity may be entitled to an ABN in these circumstances:
- The entity is carrying on an enterprise in Australia
- In the course of carrying on an enterprise, sales are connected with Australia
An enterprise that is not located in Australia must register for an ABN for certain tax purposes, such as GST and pay-as-you-go (PAYG) withholding. When you apply for an ABN, you can register for tax obligations, for example, withholding GST and PAYG simultaneously.
How Infor meets this requirement
The Tax ID must not exceed 25 characters.
