Creating practical capacity volume

Use this procedure to define practical capacity volume values for summary volume dimension. This capacity volume is used to calculate capacity allocations in the capacity ledger.
Note: An unutilized capacity posting dimension must already be associated to the summary volume dimension.
  1. Select TrueCost Configuration.
  2. Open a TrueCost configuration.
  3. On the Practical Capacity tab, select a Practical Capacity name.
  4. On the Practical Capacity Volumes tab, click Create.
  5. Specify this information:
    Dimensions
    Specify the required dimension values.
    Summary <Volume Dimension>
Specify the summary volume dimension to assign a capacity volume
    Summary Cost Object
Specify the summary cost object to assign a capacity volume.
    Driver
Specify a driver. The capacity volume value applies to allocations calculations that use this driver.
    Driver Weight
Specify a driver weight. The capacity volume value applies to allocations calculations that use this weight.
    Capacity Volume
Specify a value for capacity volume. This value indicates the estimated capacity for the selected summary volume dimension.. For example, if the volume dimension is Cost Object and the summary cost object is cardiac procedures and the driver is the number of procedures, a practical capacity value represents the number of cardiac procedures for which there is capacity on an event date.
    Effective Date
Specify the date on which the practical capacity volume value becomes effective. This capacity volume value is used for capacity allocations until another effective date is defined for the same combination of settings. Allocation runs with an allocation post date that is within the effective date range use this capacity volume value for capacity calculations.

For example, you can specify a capacity volume value with an effective date of January 1st and another capacity volume value with an effective date of February 1st. Allocation runs with an allocation post date in January use the first capacity volume value to calculate capacity allocations. Allocation runs with an allocation post date on February 1st or later use the second capacity volume value to calculate capacity allocations.
