Creating allocation lines

  1. Select TrueCost Allocation Controls and open an allocation control.
  2. On the Allocations tab, open an allocation.
  3. On the Allocation Lines list, click Create.
  4. Specify this information:
    Allocation Line
Specify the name and description of the allocation line.
    Step
Specify a step number to the allocation line. When an allocation is calculated, the allocation lines are processed in the order of their step values.
    Caution:
All steps in an allocation must be processed in the same allocation run to ensure that all allocation lines are processed in the correct sequence.

Step values are used when an allocation line depends on the results of a previous allocation line. Steps 1 to 100 allocations are used to sequentially allocate balances from a finance dimension to other finance dimension.

    Source Percentage
Specify a percentage of the source to allocate with this allocation line.
    Target Dimension
Select the target finance dimension where the expenses will be allocated to.
    Target <Target Dimension>
Select a summary or posting dimension level of the specified target finance dimension. Selecting a summary level dimension will allocate to multiple posting dimensions with one allocation line.
    Driver
Select the driver to use for the calculations.
    Driver Weight
Select the driver weight to use for the calculations.
    Practical Capacity
Select the practical capacity to use for the calculations. The volume dimension of a practical capacity must be the same as the target dimension. For capacity allocations, the capacity volume value is used unless it is exceeded by the actual volume on an event date, then the actual volume is used for capacity allocations. If this field is not populated, the actual volume is used for capacity allocations.
    Unutilized Capacity <Volume Dimension>
After saving the record, the unutilized capacity <volume dimension> associated to the selected practical capacity appears in this field. This field is available if the practical capacity field is populated.
    Cost Behavior
After saving the record, this field appears and the value defaults to "Not Specified". Select a cost behavior for expense.
    Accounting Entity
Select the source accounting dimension from which to calculate allocations.
    Account
Select the source account from which balances are allocated.
    Other finance dimensions
Select the source summary or posting dimension from which balances are allocated. Checking the Treat blank <dimension> as empty will only include empty value for a particular dimension as part of the source address.
  5. Click Save.
  6. If the selected summary target <dimension> does not have an associated unutilized capacity <volume dimension>, an error message appears. Click Capacity tab. On the Unutilized Capacity <volume dimension> list, click Create and specify this information:
    Summary <Volume Dimension>
Specify the summary volume dimension to which the unutilized capacity posting dimension should be associated.
    Untulized Capacity <Volume Dimension>
Specify the unutilized capacity posting dimension. Select an existing posting dimension using search. Only posting dimensions that are in the structure as children of the selected summary volume dimension are displayed.
  7. Click Save.
