Cost objects dimension
A cost object is a patient-level activity that utilizes resources. Cost objects
are the basis for TrueCost expense allocations within
direct departments. For example, a cost objects structure could include these patient-level
activities and procedures from the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other operational or
clinical systems:
- Test exams
- Surgical procedures
- Images
- Nursing tasks
- Prescriptions dosed
- Examinations
- Office visits
A TrueCost configuration requires one of
the finance enterprise group dimensions to be set up as a cost object structure. You can
define cost objects individually, or you can upload them with Infor Spreadsheet Designer.
Note: After a cost
objects dimension is associated with a TrueCost
configuration, it can be managed from the TrueCost
configuration.
TrueCost allocation rules allocate expenses to cost objects within a department. Determine a cost objects structure that represents the activities and resources for which you are interested in calculating expenses.
For best results, Infor recommends not configuring posting and summary cost objects at the same level of the hierarchy.
