Replacements and substitutions

Items can be replaced automatically or substitutions can be made in Requisitions. Replacements for inventory items can occur automatically if replacement items are set up in the Item Master. When the requested item is not fully available and a replacement item exists, the replacement item is automatically chosen. Any remaining quantities for the replacement item are placed on backorder.

Substitution is a manual process available for inventory and non-stock items. When a substitute exists, there is a Substitute tab in Requisition Line Entry Detail. Substitute items are set up in Associated Items.
