Creating budget allocation controls

An allocation control is used to group allocations that share the same processing requirements and thereby should be processed or calculated together. It defines the calendar and, based on the period type, determines the balances that are processed. Create an allocation control for each budget scenario that is allocated.

  1. Select Processing > Allocations > Allocation Control.
  2. Select the Budget tab and click Create.
  3. Specify this information:
    Allocation Control
Specify the name and description of the allocation control.
    Scenario
Select the budget scenario for allocation.

You can change from one budget scenario to another scenario if both scenarios contain the same dimensions and budget basis.

  4. Click Save.

The Calendar default is from the calendar that is assigned to the budget basis. The Period Type default is always Month for budget allocation.

    • The Default Structures tab provides a view of the structures that are assigned to the budget basis. The structures are used in the allocation line for setup and calculation.
    • The Budget Dimensions tab provides a view of the dimensions that are enabled for the budget scenarios for reference.
    • The Runs tab contains a list of the allocation runs.
  5. Optionally, on the Batch Run tab, specify this information:
Allow Batch Run of Allocation Lines
Select this check box to run a batch of allocation lines in one async action request. If this check box is cleared, then allocation lines are run using one action request for each allocation line. If this check box is selected, then the Minimum Number of Batches field is available.
    Minimum Number of Batches
Specify the number of batches that are used to determine the number of allocation lines in each batch. The number of allocation lines in a batch is calculated by dividing the total number of allocation lines in a step by this number .The maximum number of allocation lines that can be processed per batch is 100. If the number of lines exceeds 100, the number of batches per step is increased by the system. We recommend that this value is identical to the Max Active Actions in the allocations queue.
