Overview of the interface process

This is an overview of the interface process. At each step during the performance of the interface process, you should verify the data, correct any errors, and repeat the step if necessary. You continue to repeat steps until all records are error-free.

This table summarizes the entire interface process.

Step Process Description
1 Map the data

See Map interface data

Identify the Infor interface database files and CSV files that you will load your data into, compare your non-Infor data to Infor equivalents by using materials such as the Table Definitions document to create a CSV and then map your data to a source file.
2 Load the interface data

See Load interface data

In this step, you must first transfer the source files to the Infor server. Then, you can use a Infor load utility to load the source files into the interface database files or CSV files.
Note: For most solutions, you will load the CSV source files into interface database files using the dbimport utility. Some interface programs directly read a CSV file as its input.
3 Run the interface processes

See Run interface processes

Before you run an interface program, you must prepare for running it. This involves tasks such as backing up solution data and selecting the run options. After interface preparations are completed, you then run the interface process.
4 Fix errors and test the interface result

See Fix errors and test results

After you have mapped, loaded, and imported data to the Infor system, you must resolve any errors that occurred. Run data listings and reports from your non-Infor system and the Infor system, and compare them to determine the accuracy and completeness of the interface.
