Creating products for a notice

You can create multiple products for a notice. A product is associated with a group of items, which can be derived from product identifiers such as manufacturer number, vendor item, GTIN, UPC, UPN, SKU, or NDC.

  1. Open a notice and select the Products tab.
  2. Click Create.
  3. Define the general product information. Specify this information:
    Notice
If you create a product from a notice, the notice information is populated.
    Product
    Specify a product identifier.
    Description
    Specify a product description.

Third party sources of notice information do not usually provide separate product information. Often, product data is provided in a single text field. If you import the notice from a third party, you can parse the product description field using the Parse Product Description action.

See Parsing the product description field.

    Task Instruction
The task instruction from the header record is used.

Select a predefined instruction, which will be used on any tasks that are associated with the product.

These instructions tell the responder how to resolve their assigned task. Any questions that are associated with the task are displayed on the Questions tab when you save the product record.

  4. Click Save.
  5. Use product or equipment identifiers fields to determine item numbers.

Determining items from product information is critical for a successful transaction query. See Tips for determining items from product information.

  6. Click Save.
  7. You can create new items on the Items tab. Click Create, or use the helper list to look through any Purchase Order lines (especially if you are looking for Special or Service type items), or by creating a vendor item. This helper list is used to enter wildcards for finding items using the any of these::
    • Item
    • Vendor Item
    • Manufacturer Number
    • Item Description
    • Vendor
  8. You can define serial and lot numbers on the Serial Numbers and Lot Numbers tabs.

Use the Enter Serial Number Range and Enter Lot Number Range actions to create a range of numbers.

  9. You can add or edit questions that are displayed on the Questions tab.
