Default pricing hierarchy

The default pricing hierarchy is a structure used in Billing to determine the item price for the customer. The pricing hierarchy is set up according to price lists.

The default pricing hierarchy consists of a series of levels that determine the final price for an item. This table shows the order that is used to determine the final price.

  1. Price Override
  2. Contract by Item
  3. Contract by Sales Class
  4. Contract Level
  5. Promotion by Item
  6. Promotion by Level
  7. Price List by Item
  8. Price List by Sales Class
  9. Price List

You search for prices from the top down. For example, if you specify an override price on the order, then that becomes the sell price. If you do not specify an override price, then the hierarchy looks for a contract at the item level, and so on. When a pricing percent is found, it is multiplied by the price base to get the final price for an item.
