Tier updates

Use the Find Tier Changes And Process If Date Is Effective action to find Contract Interface Tier Member records where the tier has been or will be changed. This action is located on the Manage Interface Contracts page.

GPO Participant records have a start and end date. A new tier level is denoted by a record for the same GPO Contract Number and Membership with a more recent or future start date than the current member record.

New tier levels that share the same GPO Contract and Membership numbers show a more recent, or future start date than current member records.

This table shows an example of dates on a new tier level:

GPO contract number GPO membership Tier level Start date End date
16968 H000058 2 2/2/2018 4/30/2019
16968 H000058 3 5/1/2019 4/30/2022

If a GPO Participant record is found for a Contract Interface record with a more recent start date, the Tier Member is updated with the new Tier and Dates. If the Tier does not exist on the Contract Interface record, it is added. If GPO Item records exist for the new Tier but do not exist as Contract Line Interface Tier Cost records, they are added.

When the Auto Update Contracts check box is selected, new Contract Tier and Contract Line Tier Cost records are created on the Manufacturer Contract.

For Tier Members with a different tier and a start date that is on or before the current date, the Update Tier Member action is run on the associated Manufacturer Contract.

When the Find Tier Changes And Process If Date Is Effective check box is selected, the Contract Tier Member record is updated. Additionally, Contract Line Member records on both Manufacturer and associated Distributor contracts are updated.

Note:  The Find Tier Changes And Process If Date Is Effective action runs only if the Contract Interface Tier Member with a new Tier has a start date that is on or before the current date.

During this process, active contracts remain active. Therefore, you are not required to run Release Members, Release, or Activate actions.

The GPO commonly provides advanced notice when a tier is updated. In this case, the Tier Member records are shown on the Updated Tiers menu. If the effective date permits, you can run the Update Contract Tier action directly from the Updated Tiers list for a single tier.
