Settlement failure

You can show all of the invoice settlements that failed by running a report.

If settlement fails, then the invoice is released, but a hold code is placed on the invoice. A settlement can fail for these reasons:

  • The duration of time for which the payment was authorized has expired
  • The payment transaction is canceled because the credit card was reported lost or stolen
  • Settlement has technical issues, such as a disconnection

When settlement fails, the electronic payment information, such as credit card type, number, and expiration date, is removed from the invoice. After you remove the hold code and process the invoice, a hold code is put on the invoice and the invoice is sent to Receivables for collection.

Process Automation users have a service available that notifies the order processing manager that an order has failed the authorization or settlement process for electronic payments. See the Process Automation Services Reference Guide.
