Location detail

A location detail is used to identify the exact space where an asset item is located.

It is a subset of a location and can consist of up to three location levels totaling a maximum of 14 characters. For example, using a location detail, you have the flexibility to identify the location an asset item down to a specific room, on a specific floor, of a specific building, in a city.

A location can have an unlimited number of location details. If you print the location detail workbook to a barcode-capable printer, then the these location levels are combined and printed as a single space barcode. The location detail barcodes can be printed as space labels and added to the physical inventory space that they represent. If you have many location details, then plan the location detail naming scheme before specifying any location details. You must specify the locations and location details before you can print the space labels. Because assets are barcoded and tracked at the item level, items belonging to the same asset can be in different locations.
