Barcoding solution

You can use the Infor barcoding solution to add, transfer, inventory, and dispose of barcoded assets from a handheld terminal (HHT).

Use barcoding to track physical inventory by associating assets with a unique barcode. After the system is set up, you can add, inventory, transfer, and dispose of asset items. You can dispose of asset items by scanning bar code labels with a handheld terminal. The scanned data is downloaded and transferred to the a PC. From the PC, the data is transferred into the Barcoding system which requires the use of a handheld terminal (HHT) and a barcode label printer. See your Infor representative for specific requirements. When uploading a file from a handheld terminal, you must disable MS HotSync or any similar software on the PC that is used to perform continuous polling of serial ports. This software interferes with the ActivSync software's ability to recognize the HHT. Use the solution to complete the processing. Barcoding keeps track of the physical location and condition of an asset. It does not deal with the financial or accounting aspects of . Barcoding works in one direction only. Data flows from the handheld terminal to and the changes that you create in the Barcoding of requires the use of a handheld terminal (HHT). Otherwise, the barcode label does not flow back to the handheld terminal.

You can use several handheld terminals to perform the same operation and feed into the same database file. This is typical of an inventory situation, where you have a different handheld terminal operator performing the inventory in separate locations. Each asset item is assigned a unique barcode, but there is no bar code for the entire asset. This design uses partial asset transfers and disposals. You can use to track all the items that belong to an asset by designating the first scanned item as the parent item and adding associated scanned items as child items.
