Updating tax area ID and addresses

Use this procedure to assign tax area IDs to existing tax locations and update tax locations. Tax codes in Financials are the same as tax area IDs in Vertex.

  1. Select Financials > Payables > Tax Setup > Tax Entities.
    Or select Financials > Receivables > Tax Setup > Tax Entities.
  2. Highlight the Tax Entity record and select Actions > Update System Tax Codes With Vertex. The tax entity record must be for Vertex.
  3. Specify this information:
    Process Group
    Optionally, select a process group. This field is used for searching.
    Finance Enterprise Group
    Select the finance enterprise group.
    Tax Entity
    Select a tax entity. This field is required if you use the tax entity code default.
    Entity Tax Code Default
    You can select this field if Use Tax Code Accounts field on the tax entity record is selected.
    Read Only
    Select this field to run a report. If you select this field, the database is not updated.
  4. For Payables, specify this information:
    Vendor Group
    Select a vendor group.
    Vendor Range
    Select a range of vendor numbers.
    Date Range
    Select a range of dates. This is the create date on the vendor.
    Vendor Location Range
    Select a vendor location range.
    Payables Company
    Select a payables company.
    Update Payables Process Level
    Select this check box to update the tax code for the process level address.
  5. For Receivables, specify this information:
    Receivables Company
    Select a receivables company.
    Customer Group
    Select a customer group.
    Customer Range
    Select a range of customer numbers.
    Customer Ship To Range
    Select a ship to range.
    Billing Company
    Select a billing company.
    Billing Process Level Range
    Select a billing process level range.
  6. For Inventory location, specify this information:
    Inventory Company
    Select an inventory company. This field is required for inventory locations.
    Inventory Location Range
    Select a range of inventory locations.
    Update Requesting Locations
    Select this check box to update requesting locations with the Vertex tax area ID.
    Item Location Type
    Select an item location type.
  7. For Projects, specify this information:
    Update Project Tax Locations
    Select this check box to update project tax locations.
  8. Click OK to run the process or click Schedule to schedule the process to run later.
  9. To view results, use the Vertex Lookup Results tab on the Tax Setup page.
