Summary versus detailed viewing

During the setup of your tax system, you must designate whether to view tax at the tax entity or tax code level. The level you choose affects the information that you can see. This table shows the differences in viewing taxes at the tax entity and tax code levels.

Level Description
Tax entity Summary of taxes without detail information. For example, which general ledger accounts are posted to and how each tax code is used.
Entity tax code Detailed information, such as landed costs, invoiced and accrued taxes, and dates when taxes are calculated by the system. Invoice, shipping, or payment date.
