Departments dimension

A department is a division of a large organization with a specific area of activity. For example, a department in a healthcare organization might be Pediatrics.

A TrueCost configuration requires one of the finance enterprise group dimensions to be set up as a department structure. You can define departments individually, or you can upload them with Infor Spreadsheet Designer.
Note: After a departments dimension is associated with a TrueCost configuration, it can be managed from the TrueCost configuration.

A departments structure includes a hierarchy of organization departments. This hierarchy is defined by the reporting requirements of an organization. For example, a departments hierarchy in a healthcare organization might group nursing departments together by area of specialty. TrueCost allocates expenses from one department to another or to a cost object within a department. For example, expenses that are related to supplies for a procedure are allocated from an indirect support department to a direct patient-servicing department. Expenses are then allocated to cost objects within the servicing department.

Note:  An accounting unit dimension can be used in place of a departments dimension. For the best TrueCost experience, use a departments dimension, not an accounting unit.
