Punchin configuration

Punchin is an Infor term and is part of the Punchout process. Vendors can store, retrieve, and maintain inventory information, for example, item identifiers, in their catalog. In the standard Punchout process, the value in the SupplierPartID element is the vendor’s item identifier.

An additional Extrinsic element, PunchInVendor, must be transmitted with the PunchOutOrderMessage when Punchin is used. When Punchin is enabled in the Punchout Vendor settings, <Extrinsic name =”PunchInVendor”>true</Extrinsic> is included in the PunchOutOrderMessage.

Alternatively, your organization can construct a website that contains items from your own item master. This website must conform to the best practices that are outlined for Punchout websites on the cXML.org website. Punchin is standard cXML Punchout. A flag is used to direct Infor Punchout to process the data that is contained in the received PunchOutOrderMessage. True Punchout, by design, assumes that all items are X-type or special items. This requires additional time to plan, implement, and test.

When a user punches out to a vendor or to your company’s Punchin website using Requisition Self Service and Punchout, the items that are returned are evaluated to determine if the items should be on the Item master. To process items using Punchin, these must be true:

  1. The website must conform to the best practices outline for cXML.org punchout sites
  2. The requester can punchout to the supplier’s website
  3. Any items that are intended as punchin items and are returned from punchout must contain this XML element at the line-level of the PunchOutOrderMessage document: <Extrinsic name = PunchInVendor>true</Extrinsic>.

This indicates to Requisition Self Service that the item must not be treated as an X-type item, but as a stock or nonstock inventory item. See the cXML.org documentation for details about the data structures for the document.

  4. The presence of <Extrinsic name = “PunchInVendor”>true</Extrinsic> determines the path that is taken by the processing logic. If it is normal default punchout processing, that is, all items are treated as X-type items, or punchin processing. If there is no PunchInVendor Extrinsic element, it means default X-type processing.
  5. The item identifier that is returned from the punchout site must be located in your item master.

The punchin item is processed by Requisition Self Service and subjected to the usual edits while operating with Stock/Non-Stock item types. The required information from FSM is used as the default.

You, the customer, and your business partners are responsible for identifying and maintaining the data on the Punchin website. Infor does not provide tools for this task. Discuss the creation and maintenance of the dataset with your business partners.
