Processing requisition returns

For various reasons, you may be required to return inventory items that you have requested to expense. When this happens, you must indicate in Requisitions that you are returning the items.

The status of a requisition should be closed before processing a return.

  1. Select My Requisitions.
  2. Select your requisition on either the Closed/Rejected or Open tab.
  3. Select the requisition with items to return.
  4. Select the Returns tab.
  5. Select the line item to return and click Actions > Return.
  6. Repeat step 5 until all return entries are completed.
  7. To return serial number tracked items, specify the return quantity.

Delivered quantity is displayed on the Lines tab. If the return quantity is fewer than the delivered quantity, then Requisition Returns is transferred to Serial Feedback on the Return Details tab.

  8. Specify the serial number information. If the item is also tracked by bin, specify bin information.
  9. To return lot tracked items, specify the return quantity.

Delivered quantity is displayed on the Lines tab. If the return quantity is fewer than the delivered quantity, then the quantity is transferred to Lot Feedback on the Return tab.

  10. Specify the lot information.
  11. To change the unit of measure (UOM), select any valid UOM in the UOM field. The line must be in balance before you can leave this page.
The line is in balance when the total quantity of the detail lines equals the kept quantity plus the returned quantity. An asterisk is displayed next to the UOM field to indicate multiple UOM detail changes.
  12. To return bin tracked items, specify the return quantity.

Delivered quantity is displayed on the Lines tab. If the return quantity is fewer than the delivered quantity, then the quantity is transferred to Entered UOM on the Return tab.

  13. Specify the bin code information in the Bin field.
  14. After all of the return entries are complete, click Actions > Release on the requisition.

When the return is released, these events occur:

    • Stock-on-hand is increased at the inventory location that fulfilled the requisition.
    • Bin, lot, and serial number quantities are increased at the inventory location that fulfilled the requisition.
    • The requesting location expense account is credited.
    • The inventory location account group is debited.
    • The usage history for the requesting location is reduced.
