Configuring OneSource-generic

Use this procedure to configure OneSource Tax Engine when the version type is generic.

  1. Sign in as Application Administrator and select Financials > Payables > Tax Setup > Tax Setup.
  2. On the Tax Configuration tab, click Create.
  3. Specify this information:
    Tax Configuration
    Specify a code for this tax configuration.
    Write To Log File
    Select this check box to create a tax log for troubleshooting.
    Debug Mode
    Optionally, specify a debug mode for troubleshooting.
    Third Party
    Select One Source.
    One Source Version Type
    Select Generic.
  4. On One Source Generic Versions, verify that the User Template exists by clicking both user templates simultaneously. Click Open. Verify that values exist. Specify this information:
    Configuration ID
    Specify config.
    Key
    Specify ONESOURCEGENERIC.WSI.ENDPOINT.
    Length
    256
    Value
    Specify the value of the URL from OneSource.
  5. On OneSource Default Processing Information, set up the defaults. Specify this information:
    Calling System

    Company Role
    Specify Buyer or Seller as appropriate.
    Host System

    External Company ID
    See OneSource user guide or Playbook for an explanation of this field.
    External Company ID Name

    Use As Legal Entity
    • If you select Default External Company Id, the External Company ID that is specified is used as the External Company ID.
    • If you select Finance Enterprise Group, the Finance Enterprise Group is used as the External Company ID.
    • If you select Tax Entity, the Tax Entity is used as the External Company ID.
    • If you select Company, the Company if sent, is used as External Company ID.

    Exclude Invoice Amount From
    For expense invoices, specify a start range for invoice amounts to exclude. Consider negative amounts for credit memos. This field is not used for match invoices.
    Exclude Invoice Amount To
    For expense invoices, specify an end range for invoice amounts to exclude. Consider positive amount for invoices. This field is not used for match invoices.

    The Is Audited field is set to true when transactions are released. It cannot be selected for Generic versions.

  6. On One Source Generic Versions, click Create to add a version number and details. Specify this information:
    Version
    Specify a version number that coincides with the tax configuration record.
    Release
    Optionally, specify a unique number for the release.
    User Name
    Specify the user name from OneSource.
    One Source Password
    Specify the password form OneSource.
    Release Notes
    Optionally, provide notes. If this field is blank, it is filled with the date that you last validated OneSource.

    Optionally, in the Validation Address section, provide an address that can be used by OneSource to validate. If the address is blank, a default address is used. You can complete the address fields if a zero rate is returned. This occurs if you have not set up the default State for which to return a tax rate.

  7. After the version record is added, go to the Tax Configuration record and add the Version and Release in the header.
  8. Validate the connection: Click the Actions menu and select a validation option.

    Optionally, after specifying the OneSource parameters and successfully validating the connection, return to the Tax Configuration tab.

    • Run the Save OneSource Parameters To Version action for each OneSource version that you created.
    • To change the Tax Configuration to a different version, change the version number on the Tax Configuration tab, then run the Update OneSource Parameters From Version action.
  9. Select Tax Entities and specify this information:
    Tax System
    Select One Source.
    One Source Version Type
    Select Generic.
  10. Click Actions > Load One Source Defaults.
    Verify that the information is correct on the One Source Setup tab.
  11. Click Actions > Validate One Source Generic Connection. If the connection is successful, a completion message is displayed.
